Statewide Library Outreach Campaign The Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence (MCEDV) and its’ member projects are partnering with libraries across the state to roll out the third year of the Statewide Library Outreach Campaign. MCEDV and its’ member projects will donate more than 700 books to libraries across the state that explore different aspects of domestic violence. The folloiwng books will be donated to more than 100 libraries:
After being displayed during October, these books will become part of the library collection and will contain a faceplate with the statewide domestic violence helpline number. Participating libraries will offer library patrons bookmarks with the toll free helpline number and display information about domestic violence. MCEDV spokeswoman Nicky Blanchard explained, “Libraries are in a unique position to provide invaluable resources to patrons in a safe and confidential environment.”
To compliment the library campaign libraries are offering age appropriate children programs using one of the five donated books, Tails Are Not for Pulling. The Commissioner of Department of Public Safety, Anne Jordan, will be reading in Augusta on October 24th at 10:00am at the Lithgow Library.
